Background: Administrators in Medicine (AIM), in a collaborative effort with the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB), has designed a state medical and osteopathic board investigator certification (CMBI) program that provides comprehensive, subject specific education and training for state medical and osteopathic board investigators. The goal of the program is to provide a resource to boards that will give specialized training to individuals who are in the position of investigating complaints received by medical and osteopathic boards. The program is specifically intended for investigators who have basic investigation skills but who are new to the peculiarities of investigating physicians while also providing continuing education and certification for individuals with more advanced skills.
